Word has been received by Mrs B C Travis of the death at Oberon, N D, of Rev Mrs M A Tompkins, for over forty years a resident of this city.
Mrs Tompkins was an ordained Christian minister and was 83 years of age. She died Tuesday, October 5, at the home of her son, Frank Tompkins in Oberon.

For twenty-five years, Mrs Tompkins was a milliner in Elkhart, her store being located over Jenner's drug store at the corner of Main and Lexington, later in the Simonton building on the east side of Main street, and after that at 309 South main street, stand now occupied by Mrs McLean.

Mrs Tompkins and Mrs Travis were delegates to the World's W C T U convention in London in 1895, and spent that summer traveling in Europe. Following their return, Mrs Tompkins sold her business and was ordained a minister in the Christian church. She was active in building the Riverside Christian church and ministered to that congregation. Later she served as an evangelist, preaching in many churches in this vicinity.
