Mr. Conkey was born Feb. 22, 1897, in Raymond, Ia., and was married to Nellie Marcusen, Aug. 17, 1919, in Ashland.
He was a veteran of World War II a member of Ashland Masonic lodge and a farmer near Tallula for many years before moving to Chillicothe.
He is survived by eight children, Mrs. Harold Glasing, Peoria; Ray and Mary Conkey, both of Springfield; Mrs. John Reiser, Pleasant Plains, and Mrs. Robert Thompson, Ashland; John and Patricia Conkey, Chillicothe, and Robert, with the U.S. Marines at Los Vegas, Nev.; three brothers, Theodore, Tallula; Claire, of Chicago, and Merle Ewing, Ky., and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Thompson, Harms & Hurley funeral home, Petersburg, with burial in Newsmansville cemetery west of Petersburg. Rev. Kenneth V. McConkey, of Chillicothe, will officiate.
