Ruby Irene Gibson Melton Ross, age 90, of Detroit, passed away, Monday, October 20, 2014, at Legend Healthcare Center in Paris. Mrs. Ross was born June 27, 1924, in Stamford to J.C. and Myrtle Armstrong. She received her BA Degree in Education from East Texas State University in Commerce and taught at The Detroit Independent School District for 35 years. Mrs. Ross loved quilting and was a member of the Woodland Quilting Club. She was preceded in death by 1st husband, Marvin Melton; a son, Jerry Wayne Melton; and her 2nd husband, J.E. Ross. Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Melton and wife Lori of Detroit and Dean Melton and wife, Linda of Paris; her grandchildren, Dale Melton, Alvis Wayne Melton, Glen Melton, Dean Melton, Betty Melton and Caden Melton; 1 sister, Margie Fleming of Forney; 1 brother, Calvin Gibson and wife, Joyce of Woodland; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Rachael Williams. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2014, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Tracy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
