SURGOINSVILLE – Bobby Joe Allen, 61, of Surgoinsville, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, 8 JUN 2011, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Surgoinsville. He was a 1969 graduate of Surgoinsville High School and attended ETSU at Allendale. After high school he held various leadership jobs at Holliston Mills and was a supervisor at Alladin Plastics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Cindy Allen; brother, Jack Allen; half-brothers, Charles and Wayne Allen; brother-in-law, Steve R. Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Christie Allen Forbis; son, Jody Allen; three grandchildren; mother of his children, Thelma Evans Davis; sisters, Peggy Jarnagin and husband Ray of Rogersville, Betty Johnson and husband Leonard of Mt. Carmel, McKenzie A. Jones, and her daughter, Wendy Dykes Hicks and her son, Dustin Allen Jones; brothers, Randall S. Allen and wife Lisa of Church Hill, Tony Allen and wife Dana of Mt. Carmel; half-brother, Billy Allen of Maryland; sister-in-law, Judy Allen; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a thank you to his friends and neighbors, Hawkins County Rescue Squad; and special thanks to Daniel Allen, Linda Kimbro, Betty Jean Sandidge, John and Sarah Williams, and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Collier.

The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday, June 10, 2011, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
