William Gerald "Jerry" Brown, 73, of Shelbyville died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility in Columbus.
Born Sept. 28, 1937, in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of Joseph Edgar and Catherine Ora Brown. He married Linda Brown on June 15, 2002, and she survives.
Other survivors include close companion, Sarah V. Brown of Shelbyville; children, Jeri Belinda (husband, Oscar C.) Thompson Jr. of Terre Haute; stepsons, Scott (wife, Tammy) Gaudin of Shelbyville and Casey (wife, Rachele) Gaudin of Southport; siblings, Joseph G. Brown of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Barbara B. Finney of Lees Summit, Mo.; and grandchildren, Beth E. Wertz and Savannah B. Lux, both of Shelbyville, Leiam, Lex and Linkin Gaudin, all of Southport and Michael and Stacy Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Brown had lived in this area for 37 years, having previously lived in Louisville, where he graduated in 1955 from Saint Xavier High School.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Brown was a self-employed business owner, having started Pizza King restaurant in 1974.
He had attended Town and Country Christian Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Jerry was a private pilot; loved boating, golfing and bowling; and was a car enthusiast. He also loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
A private service for family and close friends will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Bill Horner Jr. and the Rev. Ian Farnsley officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Shelbyville-Shelby County Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
