Rev. Clanton was born on August 30, 1921 in Independence, MS to the union of his parents Richard and Mattie Smart Clanton and passed from this life on Wednesday June 22, 2011 at his residence in Monroe. He was a retired Baptist Minister.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Ruth Patrick Clanton and is survived by his wife of 14 years, Christine Glimore Clanton . He is also survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Carolyn and James Sanders, Beverly and Johnny Carroll and son, Tommy Clanton. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Plase Cassels, Huey Crum, Ralph Easterling, Joe Erwin, Mike Erwin, Joe Foy, Bud Gaulden, David Smith, and Joe Tarver.
Memorial gifts may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to the charity of choice.
