Donald Lambrecht, 78

Donald A. Lambrecht, 78, of Jordan, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, at St. Gertrude's Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee, surrounded by his family.

Donald was born on the family farm in Belle Plaine on August 10, 1932, a son of John and Olga (Deusterman) Lambrecht. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1950, and proudly served in the United States Army from 1950-1952, stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He married Carol Efta on May 11, 1957, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Prior Lake. Donald's love for sports started at a young age and continued throughout his lifetime. He played amateur baseball for the St. Benedict Saints in the 1960s, enjoyed pitching, and in 1963 was considered the best clutch hitter of the team. Don loved to dance, and other activities that filled his days were bowling, fishing and playing in card groups with friends. His pride of being a farmer didn't extinguish after he retired. Much of his time in his senior years was spent hauling cattle for others to the stockyards and fairs.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years; children Sharon (Rick) Carlson, Belle Plaine, Jim (Jodie) Lambrecht, New Prague, Laureen (Jay) Picha, Shakopee, Gordy (Penny) Lambrecht, Missouri, Tom (Lois) Lambrecht, Jordan, Paul (Emily) Lambrecht, Jordan, Dawn Lambrecht, Jordan, Vickie (Jerry) Novak, New Prague and John (Sheila) Lambrecht, Belle Plaine; 22 grandchildren Meagan, Neal, Jenna and Sam Lambrecht, C.J, Lance, Sarah and Danny Picha, Amber and Krystal Lambrecht, Matt and Andy Hentges, Kristi, Dustin and Kelsey Lambrecht, Zach, Teagan and Evy Lambrecht, Kaitlyn and Kortney Novak, Dillon and Ireland Lambrecht; a brother Lyle (Patty) Lambrecht, New Prague; sister-in-law Joan (Ed) Breimhorst, Jordan; brother-in-law Dick Lannon, Shakopee; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Roger (Rita Lannon) and Allen Lambrecht.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan, with Rev. Timothy Yanta and Deacon Bob Wagner officiating.

Interment was at St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ron, Rob, Richie, Greg, Larry and Lonny Lambrecht.
