Arlie Allen, Longtime Jewell Resident Dies

Arlie D. Allen, 79, longtime resident of Jewell, died Tuesday morning at the Memorial hospital in Story City where he had been a patient for 10 days.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 2 p.m., at the Becker funeral homes, with the Rev. S. E. Carlsen officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Jewell.

Pallbearers will be Merlin, Williams, Leonard Hanson, J. DeVere Kahl, Clarence Iverson, and T. C. Tokheim. Honorary pallbearers will be J. R. Kinnear and Carl Queensland.

Arlie Deniz Allen, son of Eli and Lavina Alford Allen, was born August 8, 1888, at Alfordsville, Ind., and died January 30, 1968, at Story City, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 21 days. He attended high school at Alfordsville. On February 21, 1922 he was united in marriage to Amy Elizabeth Harman at Webster City. Three children were born to this union. He had resided in Jewell for 58 years. He was employed as a drug clerk for many years. He also served in World War I.

He is survived by his wife, three children, Mrs. Charles Smith of Paulina, Mrs. Richard Golden of Jewell, and Mrs. Alvin Smith of Nevada; and six grandchildren.

He was a member of the Christian church, and the American Legion.
