BOLIVAR, TN - Delbert V. Avent, 85, retired operator for MATA after 40 years, died Thursday at Bolivar General Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shackelford Funeral Home with burial in Parrans Chapel Cemetery . He was a member of the Transit Union in Memphis, Parrans Chapel Baptist Church and a former deacon at Buntyn Street Baptist Church in Memphis. Mr. Avent, the husband of Estelle Young Avent for 65 years, also leaves a daughter, Shirley Van Natta, and a son, Gordon Avent, both of Cordova; a brother, James Robert Avent of Memphis, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
