Adda C. McGlothlan was the daughter of William Lloyd Porter (1808-1884) and Lydia Jane Beadle Warriner Porter (1818-1873) and was born in Calhoun County, Michigan on Oct. 21, 1858. Her parents married on Feb. 25, 1855 in Marshal, Calhoun County, Michigan. Her full sibling was Lloyd Nathaniel Porter ( 1854-1937) and her half sisters were Anna "Annie" Marie Warriner (1844-1906) and wife of William Horton Aldrich and Elsie Jane Warriner (1849-1906) wife of William Herron Flick. Adda married James Edwin McGlothlan on Feb. 25, 1876 in Worth County, Missouri. They had one son Claude McGlothlan who was born on Feb. 3, 1878 in Taylor County, Iowa. Claude died on Sept. 6, 1885 in Nodaway County, Missouri and is buried in the New Hope Cemetery, Gaynor, Nodaway County, Missouri along with his mother, Adda.
