Interment will be in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Monticello, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2011 from 2PM - 9PM at the First Church of God in Oak Grove.
She is preceded in death by her daughters, Katelyn Olivia Thornton and Brittany Noel Thornton; father, Porter Brooke Lewis; niece, Cecilia Canizaro.
Portia is survived by her husband, Larry Thornton of Oak Grove, Louisiana; her children, Jake Thornton and Samantha Thornton, both of Oak Grove, Louisiana; mother, Ruby Laffitte Lewis; three brothers, Danny Lewis of Greenwood, Louisiana, Stephen Lewis of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Eric Lewis of Shreveport, Louisiana; two sisters, Joyce Lewis Canizaro of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Wanda Lewis Williams of Seabrook, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her New Zion Church family and friends.
