Winifred Fern "Wynne" Riecker, 78, of Wellington, homemaker and retired sales clerk for the Wellington TG&Y, died early Friday morning, February 28, 2003 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.

She was born the daughter of George E. Nutter and Neva C. (Dexter) Nutter on November 19,1924 on a farm near Avard, Oklahoma.

On July 11, 1948 she and Marion F. Riecker were united in marriage. He died on February 3, 1998.

Wynne was a member of the First Christian Church, Progressive Sunday School class and Christian Women's Fellowship. She always helped out with any church function from selling raffle tickets, to doing mission work for the shut-ins and working the thrift store. Whenever she was called upon she was there to help out in any way.

She loved quilting, traveling, gardening and watching all kinds of nature shows. Wynne had a great fondness for all animals especially cats, "she loved cats". In her younger years she enjoyed camping and other outside events. Collecting had painted china and various other dishes was one of her favorite past-times. Spending time with her family and friends was always precious to her. She loved family gatherings especially when she could spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her parents, husband and son George Earl Riecker precede her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Fredrick M. Riecker and his wife Joyce of Mulvane, Kan. and Clayton C. Riecker and his wife Carol of Kansas City, Mo.; grandchildren, Coy Riecker and his wife Corinna of Cleveland, Ohio, Cameron Riecker and his wife Melissa of Shawnee Mission, Kan., Brian Riecker and his wife Melissa of Independence, Kan, Lisa Richter and her husband John Murray, Kentucky, Aaron Riecker of Emporia, Kan. and Joel Riecker of Wichita, Kan.; great grandchildren, Trinity Riecker of Cleveland, Ohio, Bailey Paige Riecker and Sidney Rhea Riecker both of Shawnee Mission, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Riecker of Wichita, Kan.; sister-in-laws Mildred Veatch of Jet, Okla. and Louella Leatherman and her husband Jay of Wichita, Kan.; numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services for Wynne were held at 10:00 a.m. this morning at the First Christian Church in Wellington. The Reverend Kendale D. Finley and Pastor Sallie Shore officiated. Interment was at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Kan.

A memoral has been established in her name and loving memory with the First Christian Church, 123 West 9th Street, Wellington, Kan. 67152
