POCATELLO - Frances Miriam Fuller Otte, 84, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 18, 2011.
Frances was born on January 20, 1927, in Mesa, Arizona, to Roy and Donette Fuller. She was raised in Arizona in the Mesa and Gilbert areas. She was a brilliant child, and at the age of 16 was valedictorian of the 1943 Gilbert High School graduating class. She then attended Utah State University (USU) in Logan, Utah, and graduated with a degree in accounting.
Reid Otte came into her life while they were both attending USU. They were married on September 9, 1946, in Gilbert, Arizona, and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had three children, Linda, Gary and Jennifer, who were raised in Pocatello, Idaho, while Reid was a salesman for Wonder Bread.
Frances worked at Idaho Bank and Trust from 1953 to 1967 in the accounting/bookkeeping department. She then took employment at Idaho State University in the payroll department. After several years she became the payroll supervisor, and retired from this position in 1994. She also served as the membership officer for the ISU Credit Union from 1979-1994.
She loved to read, and read thousands of books in her lifetime. She loved playing card games, no matter what the game was, as well as, enjoying the music from the Big Band era. Frances and Reid were ward dance directors for many years. They also could be found dancing at the Green Triangle most Saturday nights.
In fact, they were hardly ever apart. They loved playing golf and would not buy a car unless the golf clubs fit in the trunk. Bowling was another activity they enjoyed together, and taking their children out to dinner was a weekly treat for many years.
Reid passed away in 1996, at age 72. Two years later Frances moved to Gilbert, Arizona, where she married Robert E. Burns. They enjoyed a little over 10 years together. After Robert died in 2008, Frances moved back to Pocatello.
Frances was the ultimate peacemaker to co-workers, family, and friends. Everyone who met her liked her. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her three children, Linda M. Otte of Orem, Utah, Gary (Karen) Otte of Pocatello; Jennifer A. Otte of Pocatello; and one grandson, Curt Reid (Annie) Otte of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Joyce (Frank) Elsberry of Tempe, Arizona; stepdaughter, Sue (Jim) Schuett of Gilbert, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, outlaws and in-laws.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Pocatello, Idaho. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2005 South Fourth Avenue, Pocatello, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Reid Otte Memorial Fund at the Idaho Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 8538, Boise, Idaho 83707 - phone 208-376-7443 - www.youthranch.org.
