Betty Fletcher Mendenhall, 80, passed away on June 12, 2011, in South Jordan, Utah. She was born May 25, 1931, in Grace, Idaho, to Andrew Fletcher and Ruby Terry.

She was the first woman to run for Governor in Utah. She created the Concerned Citizens Party and she was a model for Jack Wolf Ranch wear. She had started two businesses of her own, the B-Unique accessory store and A-Active Realty. She was proud to be an American and fought for freedom. She loved her Savior Jesus Christ and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and received her endowment in the Salt Lake Temple. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening, and loved animals. She truly loved her family and she will always be loved and missed. We love you mother and grandma.

She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Tom) Mattingly and Ruby (Dennis) Rose, her sons Larry Virginia and Brent Bates; grandchildren Sherice Mattingly, Joe (Stefeni) Mattingly, Misty (Dale) Mead, Coby Rose, Kyle (Patia) Rose, Mindy (Nick) Winn, Shawn Rose, Brandon Virginia, Tyson Virginia, Nicole Bates, Austin Bates and Amanda (Kimball) Travis; 24 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her half sister, Frances.

She was preceded in death by her father Andrew Fletcher, her mother Ruby Terry, her daughter Alicia and her baby boy Stephen.

Interment - Lake Hills Memorial Cemetery, Sandy, Utah.
