Henry Alton Brown, "Hank" Jan. 3, 1923 Feb 24, 2011, resident of Sunnyvale, age 88, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 24th.
He was preceded in death by his lifelong love, wife, Claudia Alethea Brown, his brother, Thomas Wayne Brown, & sister Shirley Chandler. He is survived by his large loving family, sons Wayne and wife Cathy, Matt, Mark and wife Kim, Curt and Kent, and sisters Beverly Marsh and Donna Whitaker. Hank is survived by thirteen adoring grand and great grandkids.
Hank was born in Mendocino, CA in 1923 and worked in the lumber business his entire life. He was a nice man who made many friends over the years. He worked with contractors throughout the Santa Clara Valley for decades and could accurately estimate lumber costs from pages of blueprints in his head.
He served in the coast guard from 1942 to 1945 and took great pride in being self-reliant. Over the years he built his own cabin in the mountains, built a speedboat and owned a race horse. Hank spent most weekends camping or coaching his kids in sports. He considered fishing; stream or ocean, his hobby and was considered the toughest and best little league umpire in Sunnyvale, California for years.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the United Methodist Good Samaritan Church located at 19624 Homestead Road in Cupertino.
