Ada C. (Hollingsworth) Lyda was the daughter of Warren White Hollingsworth and Cordelia A. "Carrie" (Caulkins) Hollingsworth of the State of Louisiana.

Ada had the following known siblings:

Harley Warren. Hollingsworth 1881 –
William Beckwith. Hollingsworth 1886 –
Elisabeth Agnes (Bessie) Hollingsworth Kluthe 1888 – 1985
Robert L. Hollingsworth 1896 –

Sometime before 1900, the Hollingsworth family moved to St. Louis, Missouri as they are listed in that years' census in St. Louis.

In 1900, Ada married Dr. Gideon Colwell Lyda, probably in St. Louis, but the marriage record has not yet been found. The 1900 census enumerated Ada twice, once in her parents' home in St. Louis Ward 28, then with her husband in St. Luois. This census states the couple had not yet been married for a year. Gideon's occupation was physician. Ada and Gideon had one known child who was born in St. Louis, according to that city's records:

Louis Colwell Lyda 1905-1999

By 1910, the Lyda family had moved to Lyda Township of Macon County, Missouri and Gideon's widowed father was living with them. They are in the same location in the 1920 and 1930 census, and apparently lived in Macon County the rest of their lives.

Gideon died in 1953 and Ada in 1962. Both are buried at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
