Chester Allen
Mr. Chester Allen, 93, of Hillsboro died Thursday, August 5, in Hillsboro. He was born July 3, 1906 in Malone, son of Jesse James and Nannie Mae Landreth Allen. He lived in Hill County all of his life. In his early years, he farmed. He later worked at Western Auto and Hill College, retiring after many years of service. He married Clara Jennings August 21, 1924, and she preceded him in death November 8, 1991. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Evans in 1994; by three grandchildren, Allen Eugene Evans, Carole Ann Evans and James William Brown; and a brother Leo Allen in 1957. He was a member of Line Street United Methodist Church of Hillsboro.
Survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Peggy Allen of Irving; one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Charlie Brown of Hillsboro; one sister, Martha Beal of Bedford; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 8, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial was at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro Optimist Summer Baseball Program or Line Street United Methodist Church of Hillsboro.
