Stories of great grandpa always focus around his love of children and ice cream. His car was called "Ole Betsy" and he would jam pack her with kids and take them for a ride to the lake. His children and grandchildren recall him sitting in a tire floating along with the current and smiling. Grandpa would take walks up to Mallory Avenue to get ice cream at his daughter, Aunt Grace's store. One day as he began to cross the street he was struck by a drunken driver his cause of death injuries sustained after being struck by automobile. The shock of his death was believed to have caused damage to his unborn great grandchild.
