Former Cromwell resident Dortha Jean (Forbes) Butner, passed away Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, June 27, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Cromwell, Oklahoma with Phillip Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Little Cemetery in Little, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout-Phillips Funeral Home of Wewoka, Oklahoma. Born June 5, 1929 in Burbank, Oklahoma to John and Eugenia (Breland) Forbes. She married Ray J. Butner on January 23, 1954 in Las Vegas. The couple lived in Los Angeles, CA and later moved to Cromwell, Oklahoma making Cromwell their home. Dortha graduated in 1948 from Seminole High School. She worked as a nurse in California and Wewoka. She also worked for Blue Bell in Wewoka, Oklahoma and Kelsey-Hayes in Seminole, Oklahoma. Dortha was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Cromwell. She had a special place in her heart for all animals, especially horses and dogs. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Ray Joel Butner, brother John Clarence Forbes Jr, sisters Kathryn Marie Carmichael, and Vivian Corene Sanders. Survivors include step daughter, Erma Dunn and husband Len; daughter Jeannie Cole and husband James (Wes); son Jimmy Butner and wife Donna. Grandchildren: Greg Dunn, Christopher Cole and wife Andrea, Jeremy Cole and wife Kathryn, Elisha Cole, Nicholas Butner and wife Ashley, Melissa (Butner) Disterlic and husband David; Great-grandchildren; Emily Cole, James Cole, Nathan Cole, Colter Cole and Andrew Disterlic. A host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Gregg Dunn, Christopher Cole, Jeremy Cole, and David Disterlic. Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicholas Butner and Todd Jenkins.
