Almond Robert Baxter, son of Samuel Robert Baxter and Frances Harriet Weaver, was born July 12, 1885, in Colfax, Dunn County, Wisconsin. He died December 9, 1918, in the great World War I flu epidemic, aged 33 years, 4 months, and 27 days. He was buried in Hay River Cemetery, behind the Hay River Lutheran Church on Highway 25, just south of Highway 64, in Dunn County, Wisconsin. His gravestone is inscribed "Almon R. 1885 - 1918."

On December 27, 1905, Almond was united in marriage to to Alma Dahl in a Lutheran ceremony performed by Reverend H. Thoreson, a Lutheran pastor of Prairie Farm, Wisconsin, in Sheridan Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin, and witnessed by Charles M. Dahl and Clara Dahl. At the time of their marriage Almond was a farmer living in Tainter Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin.

Alma was born May 19, 1883 in Tainter Township, Dunn County, daughter of Ole Dahl (1850 - 1933) and Albertine Vennes (1855 - 1931), both buried in the Hay River Cemetery. Alma died February 25, 1980 in Prairie Farm, Barron County, Wisconsin aged 46 years, 9 months and 6 days and was buried besides the remains of her second husband, Samuel R. Rowley, in the Hay River Cemetery. Her gravestone is inscribed "Mother Alma Rowley 1883 - 1980." Their known children all born in Wisconsin, were:

Alma's second marriage was to Smauel R. Rowley, born in 1884, who died in 1959. Both are buried in the Hay River Cemetery, Dunn County, Wisconsin. His gravestone is inscribed "Father Samuel R. Rowley 1884 - 1959."

In the 1910 U.S. Census, Almond Baxter was listed as a 24 years old farm laborer living with his wife and children on the farm of his in-laws, Ole C. and Albertine Dahl, in Sheridan Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin. The rest of the family was composed of 26 years old Alma Baxter; 3 years old Serel R. Baxter; and 7 months old Hazel A. Baxter. The family of her parents consisted of 55 years old Ole C. Dahl, a Norwegian born farmer; 48 years old Albertine Dahl born in Minnesota of Norwegian parents and their 15 years old Wisconsin born daughter Alice Dahl. They had been married 32 years, were the parents of three children all living and owned their farm with a mortgage. Also living with Ole and Albertine was 11 years old Frank Butterfield, listed as their adopted son, born in Wisconsin of a Minnesota born father and a Norwegian born mother.
