Deceased was 36 years old and a native of Sydney, Australia through he has lived in California and Arizona for a great many years. He came to Phoenix about eight years ago and was employed by Goldman & Co., in the capacity of head book-keeper for seven years. Subsequently he was made deputy postmaster under Mr. J.C. Adams and served in that position till failing health forced him to resign.
He was an honored and respected member of the Arizona Lodge No. 2 F.&.A.M. under whose auspices the funeral will be held at 10 o'clock this morning from the family residence. Phoenix Commandery No. 2 Knights Templar of which society he was also a member, will act as escort.
Mr. Stevens during his residence here was always actively engaged and was thrown in contact with a great many people. He formed a large acquaintance and had many strong personal friends. He was a most practical business man whose services were always greatly valued. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss and many there are who will extend to the bereaved family their personal sympathy in the hour of affliction.
