You wouldn't know she's a Romberger, but she is. Ada is of interest to my family because her mother was Eva Romberger.

She was a member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). The 1911 DAR directory states her residence as 214 W. State st., Harrisburg.

Her DAR listing, showing her Revolutionary connection, reads as follows:

Mrs. Ada Hoffman McAlarney. 4843.

Born in Pennsylvania.

Wife of Mathias Wilson McAlarney.

Descendant of John Nicholas Hoffman, of Pennsylvania.

Daughter of Jacob W. Hoffman and Eve Romberger, his wife.

Granddaughter of Daniel Hoffman and Hannah Ferree, his wife.

Gr.-granddaughter of John Nicholas Hoffman and Margaret Harman, his wife.

John Nicholas Hoffman, in 1776, was in Capt. Albright Deibler's company, Fourth Battalion, Lancaster County Associators. After the battle of Long Island, where part of the command was captured, he served under his brother John and fought at Brandywine and Germantown. In 1781 he was in Capt. Martin Weaver's company of Paxtang Associators.

Thank you to Contributor Devils Den (49606761) for photographing and providing location of her place of rest.
