John Nicholas Hoffman, in 1776, was in Capt. Albright Deibler's company, Fourth Battalion, Lancaster County Associators. After the battle of Long Island, where part of the command was captured, he served under his brother John and fought at Brandywine and Germantown. In 1781 he was in Capt. Martin Weaver's company of Paxtang Associators.
