Adam Royce Morefield
was born in Lexington, Kentucky on October 18, 1981 to Darrell and Linda Morefield of Winchester, Kentucky. He came into our lives a beautiful squalling infant and left as an amazing young man who had touched the lives of so many more people than we could imagine. He is survived by his parents and his sister, Tiffany Morefield of Winchester, two children, Tanner and Presly Morefield of Winchester, his grandmothers, Sylvia J. Morefield and Hazel R. Adams, a niece, Karen A. Wise and a nephew, Scott A. Morefield. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Alyson Hubbard Morefield, and still considered members of her family as part of his own. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Elbert W. Adams and Daymond Morefield, and two uncles recently lost, Earl W. Adams and George L. Hanlin, all of Winchester.
Adam became a Marine in the U.S. Marine Corps in September of 2001, four days before the attack on the World Trade Center. He had been out of his beloved Corps since 2005 but always considered himself a Marine and loved talking with his Marine Corps brothers. He was a veteran of the War on Terror in Iraq and the Global War on Terrorism in Afghanistan and was set to redeploy to Afghanistan as an ammunition inspector in August. Adam was a firm believer in family, God and country and served all three in any way he could. He was very proud of serving well as a Marine but loved most being a father to his two children.
Adam was also a member of Right Angle Masonic Lodge #233 and Elks Lodge #2816, both in Clark County. He loved helping people and both organizations gave him that opportunity. He worked at the Bluegrass Army Depot in Richmond as an Ammunition Inspector and made many friends there. He assisted with the Wounded Warrior Program where they bring in wounded servicemen to hunt on the depot grounds and he even enlisted his dad's help because he believed in supporting the men who served this country. He will be missed.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Sat., June 25 at the Calvary Christian Church, 15 Redwing Dr., Winchester, KY by Rev. Brian Walton. Burial will be in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Harold G. Epperson, Medal of Honor, Detachment No. 1113 Marine Corps League.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Fri., June 24 at the Calvary Christian Church. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m.
