Bessie Edie Groves Clamme was the wife of John Henry Clamme with the marriage taking place on 25 Jan 1902. They were the parents of Russell William Clamme, Rowland Harry Clamme, John Raymond Clamme and Rosemary H. Clamme. Bessie is said to have died from "bloating" after her husband returned from the Indiana State Fair with a very large prize winning watermelon that had been given to him. The family ate the watermelon and daughter Rosemary returned to Business School in Ft. Wayne when she was called home due to her mother's condition. One suspects that with modern medicine and diagnosis, the actual cause of death was more complicated. Bessie was the daughter of L. Groves and Mary Groves and a sister to Walter Groves and at least one more brother.
