Sarah Mildred Sims, 90, of Statham, was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, June 12, 2011. A child of the Great Depression, a World War II bride, and a lifetime member of Hebron Christian Church, she and her husband, John I, spent their lives exemplifying for their beloved family and community what marriage, faith, and work ethic should look like.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, W.H. "Hull" and Chester Evans; sisters, Lois Evans Brawner; and grandson, Evan Phillip Luke.

She is survived by her loving husband 69 years, John I Sims; her faithful children and their spouses, Judy and Bruce Pemberton, of Atlanta, and Phyllis and Jim Luke, of Bogart; her adoring grandchildren and their spouses, Prentiss and Jocelyn Pemberton and Damon and Krista Pemberton, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mike and Suzanna Luke Trice, of Peachtree Corners; and five great-grandchildren, who have each had the opportunity to be rocked in Granny's arms. Survivors also include her sister, Barbara Evans Choate, of Atlanta, and many nieces and nephews.
