John married Margeret Ellen Ludlow on 23 Aug 1876 at Orangeville, Wellington County, Ontario. Children they had together were named William George, James Fallis, John Walter, Lila May, Gertrude Jane, Mary Elizabeth and Margaret Pearl.

John was a farmer for over 40 years.
