Anna M. Johnson age 98 of Pine Island died on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island. The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island with Reverend John Torris Lohre officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Anna Marie Christensen was born on January 4, 1913 in West Bend, Iowa to Knud and Karen (nee Nielson) Christensen. She grew up in rural West Bend, attended country school and graduated from West Bend High School in 1931. On March 14, 1932 she married Leslie P. Johnson in Emmetsberg, Iowa. They made their home in rural West Bend and farmed until 1960 when they moved to a farm in rural West Concord. Later they moved into Pine Island. Anna was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church and its ladies aid. She enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, sewing and gardening.

Anna is survived by her sons-in-law, Eldon Ellingson of West Concord and Gene (Pat) Jackson of Pine Island; grandchildren, Roger (Denise) Ellingson of Dodge Center, Larry (Denise) Ellingson of West Concord, Kevin (Julie) Ellingson of Pine Island, Rusty (Lynn) Jackson of Pine Island, Brian Jackson of Pine Island, Wayne (Tammy) Jackson of Pine Island and Lesley (Lonny) McKay of West Concord; fourteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; two daughters, Genese Ellingson and Sharon Jackson; and two brothers, Albert and Arnold Christensen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.
