Graveside services for Russell Berry will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at East View Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Trull officiating.

Mr. Berry of 12 Riverview Road died Tuesday morning at a Rome hospital.

He was born in Floyd County, son of the late Russell Bryant Berry and the late Maebell Howel Berry. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rome and had owned and operated Berry Floral Co. since 1946.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with Army Air Force as a First Lieutenant and served as a B-29 Pilot and as a flight instructor. Mr. Berry served in the First Corps Reserve until 1952. He was a member of the Rome Kiwanis Club and was member of the Floyd County Democrat Association where he served on the Board of Directors.

In 1978, Mr. Berry was named Floyd County Democrat of the year and in 1984 he was inducted into the Floyd County Democrat Hall of Fame. He was a member of Shanklin-Attaway Post No. 5 American Legion.

Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Shirley Haney Berry, Rome; a son, Robert Stanfield, Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Whitlow, Rome, and Mrs. Maebell Whitener, Dalton; nieces and nephews.
