Floyd's cremated remains were not initially taken after death and were available for years at the Oregon State Hospital to be claimed by anyone who was related. In 2017 the ashes were claimed by a family member. In July 2018 his ashes were interred at Three Mile Cemetery in the Dalles (aka Parklawn).

More information about unclaimed cremains at OSH is available at http://www.oregon.gov/oha/osh/Pages/cremains.aspx A book by David Maisel and a short documentary film by Ondi Timoner & Robert James, both entitled "Library of Dust" also provide more information.

Floyd was born in Utah in 1914 to James Ellifritz and Sarah Bateman. His siblings included Hattie (born in 1897), James (1898), Bertha (1900), Paul (1902), Alta (1904), Nondis (1905), Alfred (1907), Millan (1909), Delbert (1910), Nina (1912), William (1916), John (1919) and a sister (1921) who died in infancy.

During the censuses of 1920 & 1930, Floyd was a child living with his parents in Davis, Uintah County, Utah where his father was a farmer. In 1935 Floyd was living in Moffet County, Colorado. He married Florence (maiden name unknown). She was born about 1917 in Colorado. They had at least two children Frances Laverge Ellifritz (born about 1936 in Colorado) and Fern L. (born about 1938 in Utah). Other children may have been born after 1940.

At the time of the 1940 census, Floyd, Florence and their two daughters were living in Bend, Deschutes County, in central Oregon with Floyd's sister Bertha and her family. Floyd was a farm hand. In 1942 and 1950 Floyd and Florence were listed in the city directory of Bend. He was a mechanic.

On 12/31/1953 daughter Frances married Marvin William Jacob in Stevenson, Washington. Daughter Fern married Rowland D. McFadden on 7/16/1955 in Vancouver, Washington. Both girls and their grooms were living in Klickitat County, Washington at that time they got married.

Floyd and Florence may have divorced or Florence died because on 11/14/1956 Floyd married Ida Hart in Stevenson, Washington. She was born on 5/15/1914. They were both living in Deschutes County, Oregon. Later they moved to Oswego, Clackamas County, Oregon near Portland.

About October 1, 1959, Floyd was admitted to the Oregon State Hospital, a residential facility in Salem, Oregon for the treatment of people with mental illness. He died there of bladder cancer 5 months later. He also had tuberculosis.

On 1/21/1961 Ida married Oren Primm in Vancouver, Washington. They were living in Clackamas County, Oregon at the time. She died in 2005.
