H.E. (Gene) Fair, 54, died today at his home in rural Raymond of a heart attack. He was born June 6, 1919 at Raymond and was married August 23, 1941 to Doris McCullah of Santa Cruz, Calif. A farmer, he was a lifetime resident of Raymond.
Mr. Fair was a member of the First Baptist Church of Alden, The Alden Booster Club, Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and was a graduate of Kansas State University in 1941.
Gene Fair was preceded in death by a son, Steve, who drown August 14 on a float trip with college friends in Idaho.
Survivors include the wife of the home, 2 daughters, Mrs. Ron Ricker of Raymond and Mrs. Jean Doty of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Dale Hoffman of Emporia; a brother, Fred Fair of Alden; his mother, Mrs. Sallie Fair of Alden and 3 grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at the Alden Baptist Church, the Rev. Dale Gates will give the sermon. Burial will be at the Alden & Valley Cemetery.
