Heart Attack Takes Life of Winston Luttrell
Winston Luttrell, 66 who with his wife had lived near Scio, at Rt. 3 Box 275 for several years, suffered a fatal heart attack at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, '72 while playing for a dance at Scio Grange Hall. He was dead on arrival at Albany Hospital. Born Aug. 1, 1906 in Douglas County, Mo., he lived in that state and Okla. prior to North Platte, Nebr. from 1926 to 1950. He came to Jefferson, Oregon in 1950 and lived in Eugene from 1957 till 1968 when he came to Scio. He married Macy Forshey in Lexington, Nebr. Feb. 12, 1930. She survives. He was a freight car man for Southern Pacific, retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Car Men Local 149; Scio Grange No. 923; Oldtime Fiddlers Association of Oregon, and the National Oldtime Fiddlers Association. In addition to his widow, survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Root of North Platte, Nebr., Mrs. Donna Lang of Gering, Nebr., Mrs. Joyce Monroe of Cottage Grove, and Mrs. Leota Thomas of Denver, Colo; three sons, Winston L. of Oxnard, Cal., Wes of Roseburg, and Leon of Sweet Home; brother Dan in Mo; two sisters, Mrs. Roxie Funk of San Francisco, Cal, and Mrs. Adeline Young of Borger, Tex.; eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were held at Scio Christian Church, 2 p.m. wed., with James Alley officiating. Burial was in Miller Cemetery, northwest of Scio. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
