Clarence Chester Curry, 80, Silver Creek Rte. 1, died early this morning in a Rome hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Curry was born in Floyd County May 19, 1894, son of the late William A. and Dora Davis Curry and resided in Floyd County all his life. He was employed by WestPoint Pepperell Co. for 22 years. He was a member of Wax Missionary Baptist Church. His wife, the former Ida Lou Maynor, died in June 1968.

Survivors include one son Clarence E. Curry, Aragon; one brother, the Rev. Carl L. Curry, Rome; one sister, Mrs. Roy Elliott, Rome and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday in the Jennings Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. O. L. Edwards and Clinton Green officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today where the family will receive friends.

Active pallbearers include Bob Grubbs, Earl Elliot, Robert Johnson, O. N. Brock, Henry Ratliff and Sheldon Matthews. Honorary pallbearers include Clarence Beck, Bob Howard, Jim Howard, J. R. Hall and John Ellington.

Jennings Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Funeral services Clarence Chesley Curry , 79, Wax Road, Rte. 1, Silver Creek, who died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday in a Rome hospital will be held at 4:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with the Revs. O. L. Edwards and Clifton Green officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

His wife, the former Ida Lou Maynor, died June 16, 1968. Prior to retirement , he was employed by West Point-Pepperell Mfg. Co., for 22 years.

Pallbearers were Bob Grubb, Anthony Elliott, Robert Johnson, Henry Ratliff, Shelton Matthews and Bob Howard. Honorary pallbearers were Clarence Beck, Jim and J. R. Hall, John Ellington, Sell Carpenter, Bert Dempsey, Sr., Henry Shores and Parker Smith.

Jennings Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
