Helen Pearl Brown Clements, 78, of Cedar Lane went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 12, 2006 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born February 20, 1928 in Houston to Albert Baxter Brown and Manie Pearl Hardy Brown and moved with her family to Cedar Lane in 1939 where she resided the remainder of her life. She was a long time member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church and was married for 60 years. After all of her children started school, Helen attended Wharton County Jr. College and graduated as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She loved all aspects of nursing, but her favorite areas were labor, delivery and geriatrics. Helen worked for many years at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay Villa Nursing Home and Sweeny House. She will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren as a loving mother and grandmother, who touched each of our lives with her unconditional love, charming wit, and her never ending devotion to Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Opal Martin. Survivors include two daughters: Clela Pausewang and husband Joe of Edna and Linda Haskovec and husband Mike of Cedar Lane; two sons Russell Clements of Houston and Roger Clements and wife Kathie of Cedar Lane; three sisters Ruby Vireck of Houston, Vernie Bowie of Cedar Lane, and Manie Matthews of Bay City; one brother Albert B. Brown, Jr. of Houston; nine grandchildren, Wayne, Angie and Neil Clements, Stephanie Bosley, Jerry Beck, Denise Wilks, Jennifer Craig, Misty Helton, and Jarid McGlothern and seventeen great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, May 15, 2006 at Cedar Lane Baptist Church with Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Wayne Clements, Jerry Beck, Jarid McGlothern, Neil Clements, Steve Hamlyn and Todd Craig. Honorary pallbearers include Al Denham, Phillip Bowie, Kenneth Joyce, Rodney Matthews, Gary Matthews, Raymond Brooker, Albert Brown, and Mike Wilks.
