From the Bryan (TX) Daily Eagle, Thursday, September 9, 1965, p. 11:

Funeral services for E. E. Ames, 60, of 1110 Marsteller, were to be held at 4 p.m. today in Memorial Funeral Chapel. Mr. Ames died Wednesday morning in Crockett of an apparent heart attack while en route to Bryan from Texarkana where he had attended his brother's funeral.

Ames, a resident of Brazos County for 20 years, was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and Sul Ross Masonic Lodge Number 1300. He was owner and operator of Brazos Auto Supply.

Survivors include the widow, Verda, and one son, John, both of 1110 Marsteller, and his daughter Mrs. Peggy Calliham of Austin. Other survivors are a brother, W. W. Ames Jr. of Alvin and seven sisters, Mrs. Campbell Norris of New Boston and Mrs. C. H. Ward, Mrs. Hargrove Moores, Mrs. Clarence Akin, Mrs. Arthur Nash, Mrs. Ely Moores and Miss Bertha Ames, all of Texarkana.

Pallbearers will be J. H. King, Dr. John Huff, William Kruse, Stanley Prazak, Malcolm Purgerson and Wayne Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. O. C. Cooper, Dr. Paul Jungerman, Dr. M. R. Calliham, Ran Boswell, L. P. Dulaney, Manning Smith, C. B. Holzmann, Tom Davis, J. C. Culpepper, Sam Crenshaw and Bill Yancy.

Services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. John Skien officiating. Burial will be in College Station Cemetery.
