COOKEVILLE –Funeral services for Cora Lee Nichols, 81, will be held Thursday, July 16, 1t 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hooper & Huddleston Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Lee and Rev. Charles McCaskey officiating. Burial will be in the Cookeville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Nichols, a lifelong resident of Putnam County, died Wednesday, July 15, 1981, in Masters Health Care Center, Algood, following an extended illness. She was the widow of the late Jim Nichols, and the daughter of the late John M. and Myrtle West Lee. She received her education in the Cookeville schools and at Tennessee Tech. She was a teacher in the Putnam and Overton County schools and for many years an inspector at the Cookeville Shirt Company.
Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was active as a member of the choir and taught a Sunday school class for 30 years. She was a member of the Cookeville Order of Eastern Star 152 and served as worthy matron and also as grand chaplain of the State of Tennessee.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Reba Stamps; four sons, Glen Nichols of Smithville; John Tom Nichols of Dearborn, Michigan; Earl and Bobby Nichols of Cookeville; two brothers, Rev. Robert Lee of Cookeville and Dr. Shelby Lee of Sun City, Arizona; four sisters, Mrs. Ada Bennett of Rickman; Mrs. Beulah Martin of Midland, Michigan; and Mrs. Mary John Heiser and Mrs. Georgia Jeath of Sun City,
Arizona; eight grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren.
