Mrs. Emily Jane (Conaway) Bozell, widow of the late Thomas
Bozell, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs J. 0. Winton in
Atlanta Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. Bozell, who was 81 years of age, was born in Tipton county on the Conoway homestead, two miles northeast of Atlanta, November 14th, 1847, and was the daughter of William and Sylvania (Sumner) Conaway, both of whom were natives of Ohio. She was married to Thomas Bozell in 1866 and they made their home in Tipton county until his death in 1894. She is survived by four children, Mrs. Winton, with whom she had made her home for several years; Ida, wife of Marion F. Chappell, south of Tipton; William Bozell, east of Arcadia; and Ora Bozell of Atlanta. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren. Besides the husband three children are deceased; Mary aged 20, wife of Edward Orr; Alonzo, aged 12 and Cleveland, aged 7. All are buried in Sumner cemetery. A brother, Ab Conaway, northwest of Atlanta survives her. Eli Conaway and Robert Conaway, brothers, and a sister, Hannah, wife of Ad Bilhymer are deceased.
The parents of Mrs. Bozell drove through from Ohio in a covered wagon and settled on a farm two miles south of Atlanta in 1842, and later moved to the farm northeast of Atlanta. She was the second oldest in a family of five children. Her father died when she was seven years old and
the. mother never married again but reared her family in the Atlanta community.
Mrs. Bozell never united with any church but was a good Christian woman. She had been very feeble for several years, but suffered an attack of flu a few days ago which
caused her death.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 o'clock at the Methodist church in Atlanta with Rev. Ulmer officiating and burial will he In the Sumner cemetery.
