From a findagrave contributor:
Hey! That's the grandpa that died when my dad was going to turn 14. He
is the son Of John Ezra Austin, a non-practicing Mormon and Sarah
Elizabeth Thomas. His wife was Ruth Margaret Bateman, in case you want
to note that. His widow remarried and is buried in Los Angeles Co CA.
She and my dad were made to leave the ranch by the rest of the Austins
after grandpa died because she was so unpleasant and I understand she
might have been lazy as well. :)
They went Catholic because they tried the Mormons, which upset grandma's
people, then the Methodists, which upset his. My uncle had been in Boy
Scouts and the leader whom he greatly admired was Catholic, so they went
there. That's the story, anyway. He had a mitral valve problem and he
was pretty weak for years before he died.

Anyway, he was actually born in 1893, according to every other record on
earth and in the LDS library. I don't know if there's anything that can
be done about that on your end, since you are transcribing what the
stone says. Kinda sad that he's all alone out there.
