Cape Girardeau - Claude Colyer Courtway Jr. of Temple, Tex., died Sunday at his home. He was 65 years old.
He was born Aug. 24, 1922, at Charleston. He and the former Jean Carter were married in 1950 in Cape Girardeau.
Mr. Courtway graduated from SEMO University in 1947. He served in World War II, and came back to work in the Veterans Administration Office at the university until 1950.
The Courtways then went to Michigan, where he received a master's degree from Michigan State University. He was then employed 34 years in labor relations with the Missouri Pacific Union Railroad, retiring in 1986 as eastern district director. The family then moved to Temple in 1986.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Cee Cee Meyers; a brother, Robert Courtway; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an uncle Dr. Robert Hill.
A memorial service will be held later in St. Louis.
