Confusion exists as to where Abel is actually buried. A note from his great granddaughter in 1922 says "Abel and Clarena were buried in Rose Hill. The inscription for him and his wife appear on a single stone. The stone is lying against a tree and I have been very anxious to have it transferred to Oakwood Cemetery and placed in the lot owned by Grandmother Cadwell, where Grandfather and Grandmother and their children are buried - if not removed the stone ought to be replaced in the ground where it is now. Rose Hill is very much run down and is no longer used for burial".
A visit to Rose Hill turns up no stone - and there is no stone in Oakwood either.
(note: another source in the Syracuse (NY) Library says he was buried in the "Water Street Cemetery" - it was on the corner of Franklin and Water Streets in downtown Syracuse, NY - now is a parking lot. All of the stones were plowed under sometime in the 1940s/1950s).
Abel's parents were Matthew Cadwell and Sarah Root.
