David played clarinet in the 1st All Ohio Boy's State Fair Band. He remembers playing under Phillip Sousa. David helped light the first high school football field in Ohio. David was a lighting salesman all his adult life.
Early memory (3 or 4 years old) - While living in a house on Washington Street, Painesville, Ohio, there were not electric lights yet. He was sent up to bed and it was dark, so he wanted someone to take him up the stairs. The adults he recalled thought him old enough to be brave and not afraid of the dark. Besides they told him "God was with him". He remember taking one step at a time, stopping on every step and asking "Is God with me now?"
He lived at 536 State St. during his High School years. A graduate of Harvey High in Painesville, he then studied at Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, PA. He started work at the Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. in Ashtabula where he met his first wife. He married 3 times and widowed twice: Marian Post, Helen G. Gray, and Margaret M. Parks.
David had a incredible memory for details, therefore would entertain relatives with endless stories. Often he punctuated his sentences with the phrase "don't you know". He loved to laugh and tell jokes, dance, entertain and party. Though he worked part-time to late in his years, in his most productive times he was know to drive a Rolls Royce.
Did not practice Christian faith until later in life when he joined the Catholic Church, the church of Margaret his last wife. He would often send a weekly "care package" to extended family with jokes, cross word puzzles and last weeks church bulletin.
