FRISCO WOMAN DIES IN CRASH - A Frisco woman was killed when a van driven by her daughter was struck head-on by another motorist Wednesday evening in Camden County.

The accident occurred on the section of US 158 known as Shortcut Road at 5:45 p.m., according to the Elizabeth City office of the NC Highway Patrol.

Passenger Amanda Scarborough, 53, died after a Ford pickup driven by Charles Harry Hodges, 71, of Camden, struck a guardrail and crossed back over the center line, striking the Ford Aerostar van driven by Scarborough's daughter, Sara Scarborough Slater, 28, also of Frisco. Hodges, who owned a store in Camden, was also killed in the accident. Slater was treated and later released from Albemarle Hospital, according to reports.

Hodges was headed in the direction of Elizabeth City at the time of the incident and was not speeding according to the highway patrol. Law enforcement determined that no alcohol was involved. The accident took place close to the Currituck County line.
