Freda Margaret McGarey Jarrell, 95, of Greenup County, passed into Glory to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 16, 2011, in Boyd County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland.
Mrs. Jarrell was born February 21, 1916, on Little White Oak in York, the daughter of the late George and Emmy Abdon McGarey.
She was a homemaker, a devoted Christian and a member of the Church of Christ in Carter City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elman George Jarrell; a son, Elman George Jarrell Jr.; a daugher, Charlene Madden; four brothers, John, Vernon, Daniel and Ed McGarey; and three sisters, Mary, Lucy and Jessie McGarey.
She is survived by four sons, Vernon (Reda) Jarrell of Greenup, Ray (Carol Kirk) Jarrell of South Point, Ohio, Lawrence (Bonnie) Jarrell of Marysville, Ohio, and
Ronald (Liza) Jarrell of Columbus, Ohio; four daughters, Mary Dean (Abe) Howard of Columbus, Juanita Davis of Olive Hill, Sharon Howard of Greenup, and Linda (Jack) Milano of Timmonsville, S.C.; 26 grandchildren; 16 great-granchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2011, at Reed Funeral Home in Greeup with Pastor Gary Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Adkins-Johnson Cemetery in Greenup.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and one hour before the service Monday at the funeral home.
