"Mrs Sarah Selby, who resided a few miles southeast of the City, died last Saturday, aged 78 years and 6 days. For the past four years, she had been an invalid, and during the last ten days of her illness, she had been unable to move a muscle or swallow even a drop of liquid, owing to a stroke of paraylsis. Her funeral occurred Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Flat Creek Church, the services being under the supervision of Rev Marion Kays, assisted by Rev Martin Burch. In the nearby graveyard, the emaciated body was gently laid to rest by loving friends, Mrs. Selby was first married to James P Brumfield, who died thirty-six years ago; Several years later being united in marriage to John O M Selby, who is past 80 years of age and a highly respected farmer citizen of this City, and Mrs. Mollie Hollon, who resides east of the City. For sixty years, she was a faithful christian, being a member of the christian church. As a wife, mother, friend, or christian, she met every requirement, and many are the hearts filled with grief at the passing of this pioneer lady. Her long life was filled with christian charity, her heavenly reward is great."
