Commander (Ret.) Royal Casper Carrington, 88, of Pensacola died Saturday July 10, 2004 at Azalea Trace Retirement Community in Pensacola, Florida. Born on September 10, 1915 In Decatur County, Tennessee to Vergie and Cecil Carrington. Royal grew up in Parsons, Tennessee. He studied education at Union University, Jackson, Tennessee. After teaching several years and serving as an elementary school principal in Parsons, he joined the Naval Air Corps and began his career as an aviator during World War II. Royal was a member of the Order of Daedalians National Fraternity of Military Pilots. After retiring as a Navy Commander, he began a twenty-year career as a loan officer with Florida National Bank, now Wachovia, and volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital and the Better Business Bureau. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Royal is preceded in death by his second son, Phillip Carrington, and by brothers Floyd and Troy. Royal is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine Herron Carrington; his son and two daughters in law, two sisters, a brother,and three grandchildren.
