Family tradition states Pierre Chavian came from France with Lafayette to fight in the Revolutionary War. He origanilly settled and married in Berks Co., PA before moving to Crawford in 1803. Pierre and his wife Catherine were buried in the Miller Farm Cemetery which was situated east of the intersection of North Watson Run and Middle Roads and north of US 322 in Vernon Twp, Crawford Co, PA the location of which has been lost. (Note: The account of the surprise birthday party for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth "Aunt Betsy" Harris nee Chavian/Gevin (her first husband was Darius Joslin) in the 11 March 1880 issue of the Crawford Journal, stated the farm originally owned by Pierre was currently owned by two old ladies named Miller. Apparently the heirs of John and Rosanna (Chavian/Gevin/Javin) Quigley sold the tract to the Miller family. On the tract, originally owned by Pierre Chavian exists today a cemetery, known as the Quigley Cemetery)
