Obituary Phillip W. Sams
Cayuga,Ind.---Phillip Wayne Sams, 65, of Cayuga, Ind.,died at 1p.m. Wednesday (July 16, 1997) at his residence.
He was born June 4, 1932 in Cayuga,Indiana, the son of Fermer and Nina Fultz Sams. He married Maggie A. Mahoney on May 11, 1957, at Georgetown. She survives. Also surviving: one son, Phillip J. (Ericka) Sams of Cayuga; one daugher, Diana R. Swartz of Cayuga;his mother and stepfather, Roy and Nina Fisher of Danville;and a half sister, Cynthia Fisher (Larry E.) Smith of Danville,IL.
He was proceeded in death by his father and a son, Mark Sams, who died May 2, 1978.
Mr.Sams was an electrician during his working years with the IBEW Union #538 of Danville, retiring in 1995. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Cayuga American Legion Rainbow Post #263 and a member of the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Sams enjoyed collection coins, guns, and hunting. Services: 2 P.M. Saturday, July 19, at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga; Officiating: Pastor John Stidham; Burial: Thomas Cememtery, Newport, Ind. , with graveside military rites byt the Cayuga American Legion Post; Visitation: 4-8 P.M., Friday at the funeral home.
