Born as Mette Catrine Christensen on 24 July 1866 in in Brovst parish, Øster Han district, Hjørring county, Denmark. Mette was the daughter of Niels Christensen (1833-1928) and Petrea Frederikke Holm (1829-1900). Mette was converted to the LDS church in Denmark and immigrated to Utah in 1883. She first married Earnest Harry Weitz. She and Ernest lived in Chicago until 1891, when she moved to Manti, Utah. She then married John Lloyd on 22 June 1898. She divorced John Lloyd in about 1914. She married George Black on 23 December 1932 in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, USA. Mette died 21 September 1950 in Manti, Sanpete, Utah, USA, and was buried 23 September 1950 in Heber City Cemetery, Heber City, Wasatch, Utah, USA (Grave Location A-295-4: GPS location of grave: N 40°31.004' W 111°24.191'). Her father immigrated to the United States as well, and he changed his surname to Miller for unexplained reasons. Mette changed her maiden surname to Miller as some point as well. She has been known variously as Mette, Nettie, Katherine, Cathrine, and Catrine. From her three marriages and her maiden name change, her surname has been at various times, Christensen, Miller, Weitz, Lloyd, and Black. Her headstone, which bears the name "Katherine Miller Black," is located by the side of the road labeled as "Olpin Ln.3" inside the cemetery, approximately sixty feet from the cemetery entrance at the road on the north side of the road. Immediately to the north of her headstone in the cemetery are the headstones of three of her children, Harry C. Weitz (1888-1917), Ernest W. Weitz (1886-1909), and Edward Miller Lloyd (24 Feb 1906 - 3 May 1907).
