Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John Emmitt Slade; a daughter, Dixie Starnes; and several siblings.
Survivors are her daughters, Gladys Burns of Bogue Chitto, and Gertha Lea White of Natchez; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Wallace, Glenn Avants, David Avants, Margie Huff, Michael White and Patrica Powell, all of Natchez; and a host of great- and great-great-grandchildren.
