Son of the late Claude and Ellen (Rodgers) Auchey, he was a member of the New Oxford Fire Department and of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Hanover.

Survived by wife, Erma Auchey and children, T. Sgt. James Auchey, Langley AF Base; Larry Auchey, Gettysburg; Ronald Auchey, Hanover; Mrs. John Stremmel, Dover; Clair Auchey, US Navy; Richard Auchey, Eastern Kentucky University; and David, Cindy and Steven Auchey at home.

He was predeceased by a son Donald in 1959.
