Rev. Dr. Charles Elliott was the son of Frances (Blaine) Elliott. He was born Glenconway, Donegal. He was the husband of Phebe (Leech) Elliott. They were married September 14, 1822. Phebe died September 14, 1882. Rev. Elliott was a minister in the Ohio Conference and Pittsburgh Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was editor of the Western Christian Advocate 1852-1856 and twice president of Iowa Wesleyan University.
